Maggie read Last Chance Bride with misty eyes through at least one-third of this book. Not enough of a tear jerker to get up for the toilet paper roll, but there was the frequent dabbing on a long sleeve.
I do believe I'll be reading this one again.
Synopsis: Last Chance Bride
Jacob Stone is a lonely Montana widower with a six year old daughter, who's mother died during her birth. Jacob is haunted by the tragedy of his wife's death and only blames himself. For, if she had never gotten pregnant then she never would have died. Never again will he be responsible for another woman's tragic death, so he swears off of finding or giving into romantic love. Knowing his daughter needs a woman's influence, Jacob advertises for a mail-order bride with the intent of only finding someone as a suitable match for raising his daughter who will be agreeable with a name-only marriage.
Libby Hodges answers a simple ad for a widower seeking a mother for his young daughter, thinking that just maybe, she could possibly hope to have the home and family she always dreamed of but was never possible.
After six months of correspondence Libby agrees to travel to Montana to meet Jacob and his daughter Emma--just to see if a marriage could possibly be worked out between them. However, Libby arrives with concerns that she may already be pregnant and desperately needs this marriage for her own emotional reasons as well as for the child she might be carrying. On arrival she struggles with whether or not to tell Jacob the truth and finally learns of his intentions for a name-only marriage.
